Richard Aaron Houston Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard Aaron Houston was born on September 5, 1977 in Humbolt, Iowa. He was the second of two children with an older sister Angela. Richard’s family and friends lovingly called him Aaron. His childhood was spent in Iowa until he moved to Colorado. He graduated early from Denver East High School and continued his education at Metropolitan State and Echo Tech. Aaron graduated with honors from Echo Tech with a specialization in Sustainability and Solar Energy . Aaron loved hiking in the mountains and all outdoor activities. He often had adventures where he could be swimming in the water or play in the sun all day. He was a passionate supporter of the Democratic Party and was ecstatic his work was rewarded in the 2020 election. As a child Aaron was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. Aaron was a very spiritually open person whose strongest belief was in a good moral compass. One of his favorite places to renew his spirituality was in the mountains at the Buddhist temple. Aaron was such an amazingly warm person that he had far too many friends to list names in this program. Once you were friends with Aaron you immediately became family. That friendship also came with Aaron’s opinions and matter of fact communication. He never misled or left you guessing about his stance. He was the kind of person that did not tolerate insincerity or unkind people. He was fierce, and fierce in his loyalty to his friends and family. Aaron made you laugh as he was witty. He was kind. He was not afraid to cry. He considered his niece his baby girl, he loved his sister deeply, and his best friend was his Mother. Richard Aaron Houston departed this life on January 31, 2021 at home with family and friends by his side. He is survived by his mother Patricia Houston; his sister Angela Savage, niece Erika Savage (Felipe Torres); Aunts Jan Simonsen (Jake); and Mary Jo Arnold; uncles Terry Arnold, Torg Houston (Jane); and numerous cousins. We are all blessed to have our heart and soul touched by Aaron.
