Blanche Margaret Adam
December 3, 1936 - February 7, 2022
Blanche was born in Woking, England to Charles George and Blanche Jeanette Rebecca (Wanstall) Raggett. She left England in 1958 to strike out on her own adventure and landed in Malibu, CA as a nanny. From there she made her way to Illinois where she raised our family. She loved walking barefoot everywhere - beach, grass, and much to our chagrin, even the airport. A fierce independent attitude helped her raise seven children, millions of flowers and sundry pets along the way. With no ocean around, she took us camping and fishing, and taught us to work for what we want. Mom, mommy, nana, Blanchey – will be missed and talked about by many. She is survived by seven of her eight children, Ernest, Roxanne (Rob), Charles, Alex, Elisa, Adrian (Christa) and Thaddeus. Brothers Geoffrey (Johanna) and Keith (Jennie) in England, and eight grandchildren, Maxwell, Emma, Reagan, Jack, Weston, Julia, Joseph and Steven. Blanche was preceded in death by her father and mother, infant son Carl, and her brothers, Charles, Terry, Ronald, and Raymond. Since mom was not one to fuss, we won’t fuss now either. Although she wanted to be dumped overboard into the sea, sadly we are unable to fulfill that request. You’ll find this rotten lot around the world in her favorite spots lifting a pint to the strongest, stoic, aggravating but loving woman that she was. If you would like to remember Blanche, donations to River Valley Animal Rescue in Momence, IL, rivervalleyanimalrescue.org, would make her smile.
