January 16, 1954 - July 13, 2021
ANICE YVONNE (Grundberg) SHOWERS was born on Saturday, January 16, 1954 in Portland, OR. She went home to God on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 after battling Congestive Heart Failure. Janice's last residence was in Central Park - Denver, Colorado, sharing a home with her dear friends Bob and Chrissie Heilmann over the last 6 years, referring to them as her Brother and Sister. Late in 2003 while working at the Zion Campground and RV Park in Springdale, Utah, she met her soon-to-be husband David Melton Showers, on September 21st of the same year. They married on February 12th, 2004, setting out on new found adventures, enjoying a full-time RVing lifestyle. For over 10 years, they traveled from coast to coast, with many stops along the way, meeting new friends and forming long lasting relationships. Janice often said, “I never burn a bridge; I might have to make a U-Turn.” In March 2020, she jumped at an opportunity to return for another season in Hospitality in Springdale, helping others to book their adventures and a fun place to stay. Janice often said Zion is God’s country, and it was her favorite place on Earth. The smile on her face when greeting friends or customers that entered the establishment was so contagious. Janice’s joy of music and zest for life was infectious. At the age of 59, she learned how to play guitar. She would learn a new song, frequently singing and dancing to it, then passing it on to her musician friends to play for the next occasion. She also enjoyed boating, RVing, horsebackriding, cake decorating, cooking, painting, crafting, Wii bowling, and old western cowboy movies. Though many would never have known, as she hid it well behind her beautiful smile, Janice knew tragedy more than most. Before relocating to Denver in 2015, there were no survivors among her immediate family. She was widowed on July 18th, 2014, facing a life alone. In the end, being a Step-Mom to her two step-children, from a prior marriage, loving her friends, and being a wife to her husband Dave were her greatest joys. Janice’s positive influence lives on through her step-children, her friends, as well as many others. As Janice wished, in lieu of a Memorial Service, a Life Celebration will take place in Denver, held by those closest to her, on Saturday, September 25th, 2021, 2pm-5pm, at Casey's Bistro & Pub, 7301 E. 29th Avenue - Town Center, Central Park - Denver, Colorado 80238, Open Attendance. When appropriate, her ashes will be cast with her husband Dave’s near the vicinity of Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah. For those who wish, Janice would prefer a small donation to The Denver Rescue Mission, 6100 Smith Road, Denver, Colorado, 303-297-1815, in lieu of flowers. Her presence will be sorely missed.
