Elias Maldonado , 72, Born to Fidel and Sofia (Sandoval) Maldonado in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 6 1950 and took his last breath on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022. Elias was 6 of 6 brothers and 9 sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirlee Maldonado of 51 years , Parents Fidel and Sofia Maldonado, step-mother Lucy Maldonado; his brothers Johnny Lucero, Fidel Jr., Narcisco Maldonado, Clovis Maldonado; his sisters Corrine Espinoza, Christine Valdez, Sofie Maldonado; in laws, Johnny Baca, Florian Gonzales, Terri Maldonado, grandparents, Josephita (Little Grandma, Nino and Nina Sandoval). He is survived by brothers, Rosendo (Rosemary) Maldonado, Richard Espinoza , Jenny Baca, Fita (Ross) Saavedra, Carmen Gonzales, Carol (Joe) Casias, Dorothy (Joe) Plata, and Elizabeth Maldonado; and his children Melissa Maldonado (Larry), Toby Maldonado (Bernadette), Vincent Maldonado (Gilexis), Vanessa Soto (Leon), 20 grandkids and 10 great grandkids. Elias traveled to all 50 states while being a semi-truck driver for half his life. The rest of his work life he spent as a diesel mechanic and worked with people from all walks of life. He cherished the memories and the many relationships built with many coworkers over the course of his career. He met many people on the road and always got caught up helping people on the side of the road that needed his help. Elias was a God-fearing Christian man. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandpa, and friend. His titles were endless and he embraced every role he fulfilled. Our father was full of energy, love, and lived his life with his family as the utmost priority. His laughter and light reached us in unique and precious ways. Our hearts are saddened to see him leave but we rejoice that he has been reunited with his foxy lady again.
